TRAINER Stuart Kendrick is keen to get Petite Promise up over a mile after she broke through in maiden company over a sprint trip.
Ridden by Luke Tarrant, Petite Promise ($1.95-fav) powered past her rivals late to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths in a Maiden (1200m) at the Sunshine Coast Friday night meeting on February 28.
“She’s a really nice filly. She’s well bred,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick after she broke through at her seventh career start.
“I was probably looking for a 1400 but I just thought this was a nice race to try to get that maiden out of the way,” he said.
“I am probably keen to get her up over a mile now. She’s a nice filly going forward so hopefully we can have a bit more fun with her.”
Kendrick said Petite Promise was a tough, little filly.
“She’s got that good action,” he said.
“She lowers and sort of gets the ears back and tries hard.
“I think as she gets over further and she can really just travel easy, I think we’ll see a nice horse.”
