A TILT at the Queensland Guineas over the winter carnival is on the radar for Star of Michelin.

The three-year-old relished the step up to a mile, breaking through at his third run this preparation at Eagle Farm on Saturday, March 21.

Ridden by apprentice Stephanie Thornton, Star of Michelin ($3.70) raced off the pace but stormed down the outside to win the 3YO (1600m) convincingly by three lengths.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick said a change of luck and the step up to the mile made all the difference.

“I always felt he’d be suited to the 1600 around Eagle Farm and he showed just what he can do,” Kendrick said.

“It was a very satisfying win and a well deserved change in fortunes after things didn’t really go his way at recent runs,” he said.

“A race like the Queensland Guineas would suit him perfectly, so that could be a realistic target.”
