IT would be difficult to name a horse in the Kendrick Racing stable with more heart than Heartoni.
The five-year-old brought up career win number eight with a polished performance at Ipswich on Friday (August 29).
Ridden by Jake Bayliss, Heartoni ($3.80) won an Open (1100m).
Add six placings to his eight wins in a 22-start career and it is evident the horse rarely runs a bad race.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was a well-deserved win for the consistent gelding.
“He’s been one of the most consistent horses in the stable since he was a two-year-old and he has built a good record,” Kendrick said.
“He didn’t have much luck last start when taken on in front but had the drop on them (at Ipswich) and was too strong,” he said.
“We will now look to place him in a similar race again, with 1000 to 1100 probably his ideal trip.
“Hopefully, he might be able to knock off a midweek in town next start.”
