Apprentice Jace McMurray is all smiles as he returns to scale aboard Maximum Output after his metropolitan win at the Gold Coast.

CONNECTIONS are glad they didn’t retire Maximum Output recently.

The rejuvenated seven-year-old has now won three of his past four, culminating in a metro win at the Gold Coast yesterday (Saturday, September 20).
Ridden by apprentice Jace McMurray, Maximum Output ($15) won a Benchmark 85 (1000m) by a half-length.

“He has now won three of his last four starts, including the Bundaberg Lightning, a track record at Ipswich and now a metropolitan Saturday race,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“He has been a great little horse for the stable and connections,” he said.
“He is always very consistent and deserved another Saturday win.
“It was a very good ride from a wide gate by Jace McMurray to get in just behind the speed and then the horse was strong to the line.
“We were talking about retiring him a few runs ago, so it was a great decision to keep him going and give the owners a lot more fun.”
