Torque I Tee has put illness behind him with a dominant win in Rockhampton.
Torque I Tee ($2.70) bounced back to winning form, taking out a Benchmark 70 (1050m).
The gelding was expertly handled by jockey Ryan Wiggins, who settled him off the speed before unleashing a powerful sprint in the straight to put the race beyond doubt.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick was thrilled to see his charge back in winning form after a challenging period.
“It is great to see him back in the winner’s stall,” Kendrick said.
“He was a horse that got very sick after last preparation and has had a long spell,” he said.
“He trialed well and then was disappointing first up.
“With that run under his belt and back to the little bit softer grade in Rockhampton, he showed he is back on track with a dominant win.”
Kendrick also praised Wiggins for his tactical ride.
“He was well ridden by Ryan, sitting back off the speed and then putting they race beyond doubt with a decisive move in the straight.”
The win marks a promising resurgence for Torque I Tee, who looks poised to build momentum heading into the summer racing season.
