Nightstick has continued his winning ways with an upset win at the Sunshine Coast.
Following on from a confidence-building win at Rockhampton, Nightstick ($15), ridden by Ben Thompson, went back-to-back when he won a Benchmark 65 (1400m) by a quarter of a length on Sunday (December 7).
Trainer Stuart Kendrick praised the perfectly judged ride by Thompson.
“Ben used his initiative and went straight to the front,” Kendrick said.
“He got a few easy sectionals and then put the race beyond doubt on the turn when he skipped away,” he said.
The gelding has been a model of consistency since joining Kendrick’s Sunshine Coast stable, and the trainer believes there’s more to come.
“Nightstick has been very consistent since coming up and, with his confidence up, there could be another win or two,” Kendrick said.
