Jockey Jake Bayliss showed no fear to take a tight inside run scraping the paint of the fence to help Moroccan Wind blow away his rivals on the Sunshine Coast.
Moroccan Wind (2.70-fav)returned to the winner’s circle with a determined performance in the 0-58 Handicap (1000m) on Sunday (August 2).
Kendrick praised both the horse and Bayliss after the race, highlighting the importance of the jockey’s tactical ride.
“It was a great win by Moroccan Wind and very good ride from Jake Bayliss to take the inside run,” Kendrick said.
The trainer felt the result was deserved after the gelding’s luckless second placing at his previous start.
“He had no luck last start when ran a good second but atoned this week to get back in the winner’s stall,” Kendrick said.
“He is a horse that has always shown his share of ability, but hasn’t had a lot of luck in his recent races,” he said.
“Hopefully, the win will get his confidence back up and he can put a few together.”
