Divakara, ridden by Ben Thompson, storms down the middle of the track to make it back-to-back wins.

Divakara has extended his rich vein of form, digging deep under a huge weight to claim back-to-back victories.

Sent out a $7 chance, the Stuart Kendrick-trained gelding carried a testing 62kg but showed determination in the straight to score in a Benchmark 65 (1800m).

Jockey Ben Thompson produced a well-timed ride to run down the favourite Lyneham and score by half a length on Sunday (June 7).
Kendrick praised Divakara for his effort under the big weight and Thompson for a cracking ride.

“I thought he did a really good job,” Kendrick said.

“We left it up to Ben in the run where we were. It was a little bit tricky pace-wise, and he did a great job,” he said.

“He got on the back of the favourite and followed him through and got to the outside and was too strong at the end.

“I think that second horse is quite a decent horse. So, for him to give him that weight, pick him up and beat him, I thought that was a great job from the horse.”

Kendrick indicated the immediate focus would be on ensuring the horse pulls up well before targeting another suitable assignment as he looks to extend the winning sequence.

“We’ll just see how he comes through it and options going forward,” he said.

“But look, he’s put two in a row now.

“We will just look to try and place him in another one to get a win on the board, make it three in the row, and then we can make some decisions from there where we go.”
