Galactic Star has lived up to his name with a dazzling debut performance at Ipswich on debut.
A winner of two trials leading into the race, Galactic Star ($2.70), ridden by Ben Thompson, won a 3YO Maiden (1100m) in impressive fashion on Friday (October 31).
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said the promising three-year-old had to overcome a challenging run before winning by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
“He began well, but was then caught deep, had to be eased and make another run,”’ Kendrick said.
“That’s not easy for a horse having his first start to do.”
Despite the early setback, Galactic Star showed maturity beyond his experience, regathering momentum.
“He was then strong to the line,” Kendrick said.
“The owners have been patient, giving him time to develop,” he said.
“He now looks like he will make a very nice city-class horse.”
