Goldarnie, ridden by Cejay Graham, strolls to an easy win at the Sunshine Coast.

Three-year-old Nicconi filly Goldarnie has announced herself as a horse to follow.

She scored a commanding victory in a set weights F&M Maiden (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night (November 28).

Having her fifth career start, Goldarnie was sent out a $7.50 chance but made a mockery of those odds, cruising home by four-and-a-half lengths under a confident ride from Cejay Graham.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick was full of praise for the promising youngster after the win.

“Goldarnie is a very progressive filly,” Kendrick said.

“She performed well at her first preparation when still very immature and had no luck first-up at the Gold Coast when she struck interference,” he said.

“She was well ridden by Cejay and showed that she has a touch of class with an impressive win.
“She’s still only a three-year-old and if she keeps improving, she’ll make a nice city-class filly.”

The win was the second of two stable winners on Friday, with Nightstick also saluting at the Rockhampton earlier in the afternoon.

Nightstick ($2.90), ridden by Chris McIver, upset odds-on favourite Our Turn Now in a Class 5 (1400).

Kendrick said Nightstick (pictured below) had been racing consistently.

“We took him to Rockhampton just for a slight drop in grade and it was good to see him get the job done,” he said.
“He’s been a very consistent horse for the stables and there’s another win or two in him in the right grade.”
