Goldarnie (inside), ridden by Cody Collis, wins a driving finish at the Sunshine Coast on Boxing Day.

Goldarnie’s grit was on full display when she won her second race in a row at the Sunshine Coast and claimed the scalp of a well-bred rival in the process.

Trained by Stuart Kendrick and ridden by Cody Collis, Goldarnie ($2.50-fav) edged out Winx’s half-sister Time Of My Life in a Class 1 (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on Boxing Day.

She prevailed in a driving finish after breaking her maiden status at the same course and distance last start.

Kendrick was full of praise for his filly’s determination.
“She is a very tough filly,” Kendrick said.
“She was a bit slow away but showed plenty of fight to beat Winx’s half-sister,” he said.
“It is never easy for three-year-old fillies to beat the older horses.

“It was a good ride by Cody Collis, and she will head towards a Saturday three-year-old race over the next couple of weeks.
“We have had good success with the progeny of Nicconi and, hopefully, this filly can go on to better races this preparation.”
