Italian Dancer has produced a career best at the Sunshine Coast.
The promising galloper continued his rise through the grades with a dominant four-length win in a Class 4 Handicap (1200m) on Sunday (August 16).
The Stuart Kendrick-trained gelding, ridden by apprentice Steph Tierney, showed brilliant early speed to spear straight to the front before putting a big margin on his rivals.
Once in the home straight, Italian Dancer never looked in danger of being caught, cruising to an emphatic runaway win.
Kendrick said the win was the best performance of the horse’s career to date.
“He followed up off his win last start at Rockhampton where he came from last to win impressively, whereas on Sunday he went straight to the front, put a big margin on them and never looked like getting beaten,” he said.
“He has always shown plenty of ability and has won trials in a similar fashion, but it has taken him a long time to mature.”
