Menazzi has returned to top form with a determined win in a Class 4 (1800m) at the Gold Coast.
The six-year-old held off all challengers to score by three-quarters of a length as a $3.60 chance yesterday (Saturday, July 12).
He was guided by jockey Jaden Lloyd, with the gelding overcoming a testing run to earn his first victory this preparation.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick was full of praise for the horse after the race, citing Menazzi’s resilience and renewed spark.
“It was a very tough win,” Kendrick said.
“He showed his old fight after doing it tough throughout the run,” he said.
The Sunshine Coast-based gelding has struggled for consistency this campaign, but Saturday’s gritty performance could mark a turning point.
“He had been struggling to regain his form this time in,” Kendrick said.
“But hopefully he will take confidence out of this win and put a few together,” he said.
Menazzi now boasts a career record of five wins and 19 placings from 42 career starts.
He appears poised to build on this comeback with further success in the staying ranks.
