Well-bred filly Miss Funny Honey has tasted sweet city success on debut.
Ridden by Jake Bayliss, Miss Funny Honey surprised punters when she scored at her first career start in an Eagle Farm 3YO Maiden-SW (1000m) yesterday (Wednesday, August 13).
Coming off two trials, including a win last month, she was too strong, winning after being specked in betting from $21 to $16.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said he was extremely happy to get a city win first-up with the filly.
“She is a very well-bred filly, being a half-sister to a Group 1 winner (Vega One),” he said.
“She has been a very immature filly and taken time, but each time we’ve asked her to do something she’s got better and better.
“So, hopefully now as we step her up in trip, she’ll continue to improve further.”
Kendrick said she was a Magic Millions filly.
“So that carnival could be the aim down the track,” he said.
