Moroccan Wind made a sparkling start to his racing career when he breezed past his rivals at the Sunshine Coast.
He won a QTIS 3YO Maiden (1000m) by just over a length on Sunday (November 9) after racing up on the speed.
Trained by Stuart Kendrick and ridden confidently by Ben Thompson, the three-year-old gelding jumped as the $2.35 favourite and lived up to expectations, showing class and composure in his first outing.
Kendrick was full of praise for the lightly raced galloper, who has overcome setbacks to reach the winner’s circle.
“He’s a very promising three-year-old,” Kendrick said post-race.
“He’s had his share of issues, but the owners have been very patient and were rewarded with his first-up victory today.”
The win was made sweeter by bonus prizemoney, adding extra value to the performance.
“He’s QTIS qualified, so he picked up the bonus as well,” Kendrick added. “Ben Thompson gave him a good report and thinks he’ll be even better next start.”
