Seneschal has announced a return to his best with an authoritative all-the-way victory
The six-year-old won a Class 4 (1300m) at Caloundra on Sunday, (July 14), scoring by more than three-and-a-half lengths.
Starting a $2.90 chance, the gelding was given an assertive ride by jockey Jake Bayliss, who wasted no time taking control of the race from the outset.
Once in front, Seneschal travelled strongly throughout before kicking clear in the straight to put the result beyond doubt, registering one of the more impressive wins on the program.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick noted the victory marked a welcome turnaround after a string of below-par efforts prior to a brief freshen-up.
“It was pleasing to see Seneschal back in form today,” Kendrick said. “He has always been a good, consistent horse but just lost form at his last few runs before a short let up.”
The trainer credited Bayliss for executing the race plan perfectly, allowing the horse to utilise his natural early speed and take control of the contest.
“He was well ridden by Jake,” Kendrick added.
“He went straight to the front and dictated the race and then extended to win comfortably.
“He will now be aimed at a race on Caloundra Cup Day.”
