Connections believe consistent filly Snitzstream can develop into a good city-class horse after earning a deserved maiden win.
She proved too strong in a Maiden (1100m) at Ipswich on Thursday, (August 27).
Trained by Stuart Kendrick and ridden confidently by apprentice Archie McColm, the well-supported daughter of Snitzel started a $5 chance and delivered an impressive performance, drawing clear in the home straight to score by one length.
Kendrick said the victory was a reward for patience and perseverance after a string of solid performances.
“It was good to finally see her put it all together,” Kendrick said.
“She is a well-bred filly that has been very consistent and unlucky in a few runs.”
The trainer believes the rise to 1100 metres helped unlock the filly’s potential and expects her to improve even further as she steps up in distance.
“The step up to 1100 metres suited and as she gets up to 1200 and 1400 metres I think that will suit her even better,” he said.
Thursday’s breakthrough success could be the start of a promising campaign for the progressive filly, with Kendrick confident she can continue to climb through the grades.
“She will now look for a nice race and, hopefully, be able to work through the classes,” he said.
“She should make a good city-class horse.”
