THE Archer Park colours bookended a winning home-track treble for Kendrick Racing at the Sunshine Coast Friday night meeting (February 3).
Three-year-old filly Queen’s Secret (main photo) kicked the treble off when she broke through first-up from a spell and at her second career start.
Another three-year-old Zhuang Shi made it two wins for the night, also winning first-up from a spell to make it two wins from three career runs.
The Archer Park colours were flying again when Early Thoughts made it a winning treble for the night.
“It was a great night for the stable,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
Queen’s Secret ($7), ridden by apprentice Jake Molloy, had not raced since debuting on the Sunshine Coast synthetic track in May last year.
She failed to threaten that day but looked a different horse on Friday night, winning a Fillies and Mares Maiden (1000m).
“It was a very satisfying win,” said Kendrick.
“She’s had her share of issues, so to win first-up was a very good effort,” he said.
“She was ridden perfectly by Jake, who is a promising apprentice.”
Zhuang Shi’s first-up win in a Class 1 (1400m) was equally as impressive.
He hadn’t started since winning a Maiden 1400m at the Sunshine Coast in October and showed plenty of determination to win again.
Zhuang Shi, ridden by Nikita Beriman, defied a betting drift to win a tight blanket finish as a $9.50 chance.
“He is a promising stayer and did a great job to win first-up over the 1400 metres,” Kendrick said.
“He was well ridden by Nikita.”
Early Thoughts ($3.80), ridden by Justin Huxtable, added to his good preparation, winning a Class 3 (1800m).
“He has proved to be a very consistent horse this preparation,” Kendrick said.
“It was great to see him get another win on the board,” he said.
“He is giving his owners a lot of fun and is very rarely out of place.”
