FORMER Victorian Itza Motza has broken through for his new stable with a sensational win.
Itza Motza ($4.40), ridden by Cody Collis, won a Maiden Plate (1400m) at his fourth run since heading north to Kendrick Racing at the Sunshine Coast Friday meeting on June 14.
The three-year-old was back near the rear as they entered the straight, but ran on strongly along the inside to get the bob in on the line in the final stride.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick was confident leading into the race.
“His first couple of runs were a touch disappointing, but his trackwork had been outstanding,” Kendrick said.
“He showed his true form with a terrific win,” he said.
“He got back in the run and then under a good ride from Cody flew the last 200 metres to pick up the leader on the line.
“The horse could develop into a nice metro class galloper.”
