HEARTONI, as his name suggests, shows plenty of heart when he races.
The four-year-old, which has rarely run a bad race in his career, returned to the winner’s stall on the Sunshine Coast poly track on Sunday (January 12).
Ridden by Kyle Wilson-Taylor, Heartoni ($1.50-fav), won an Open (1000m).
With a heap of scratchings following the switch from the turf to the poly, the race ended up being a field of three.
But Heartoni had to dig deep to reel in Mishani Sniper over the concluding stages to notch his first win in four starts since his last victory in September.
“It was tough win,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“He is such a consistent horse and deserved another win,” he said.
Heartoni’s race record stands at six wins and five placings from 17 starts.
“He will now head to the metro meeting on Sunshine Coast Cup Day in a couple of weeks,” Kendrick said.
