Crown Guinea, ridden by Jake Baylis, romped home at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
MASTER Showman’s fast-finishing metropolitan win highlighted a good weekend of three winners for Kendrick Racing.
The other two included a city win on debut for two-year-old Ritualize at Doomben on Friday and a barnstorming victory by Crown Guinea at headquarters on Sunday.
Master Showman ($21), ridden by apprentice Cody Collis, burst through the pack late to win a Class 6 Plate (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday (April 6) after a short freshen-up that worked wonders.
The win made it two wins from three starts this preparation for the horse.
“He has been a great buy for the stable, now winning three metro Saturday races,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“He looks the perfect horse to target a race like the Rocky Newmarket,” he said.
The win followed Ritualize’s success on debut at Doomben on Friday.
Ridden by Kyle Wilson-Taylor, the Written By gelding won a 2YO Maiden (1100m) as an $8.50 chance.
“It was great to get a city win on debut,” Kendrick said.
“The owners have been very patient,” he said.
“He showed how tough he is, winning first-up on heavy track.”
Crown Guinea ($7), ridden by Jake Baylis, completed the weekend treble with an easy win in a Class 1 (1200m) yesterday, which coincided with an open stable day for Kendrick Racing.
She was an emergency for the race and only gained a start with scratchings, but romped home by four-and-a-half lengths second-up from a spell.
“She had no luck first-up,” Kendrick said.
“With a great ride from Jake, she exploded away to win impressively,” he said.
“The use of the farm has definitely helped her find top form.”
