THE saddle may have slipped mid-race but that didn’t stop apprentice Cody Collis scoring an impressive midweek city win on Out Of Aces.
The four-year-old gelding broke through at his fourth career start and second run for the stable in a Maiden Plate (1640m) at Doomben on Wednesday (September 25).
Out Of Aces, a former New South Wales galloper, started $1.80 favourite and won easily, despite the saddle mishap.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said the horse was an exciting prospect.
“He was very impressive and looks like he will get better as he gets over further,” he said.
“He is by champion stallion Dundeel. He should just get better as he matures.
“We will step him up in trip next start and then look to aim him at a race like The Wave over the Magic Millions carnival.”
