STABLE newcomer Temper The Storm has done what many horses can’t.
After breaking through in maiden grade at his first start for the stable after coming north from New South Wales, he’s won his next race-day outing.
Temper The Storm ($4), ridden by apprentice Cody Collis, won a Ratings Band 0-58 (1400m) on a heavy track back on the turf at the Sunshine Coast’s Friday night meeting (April 12).
It followed a maiden win over the same distance on the Sunshine Coast poly track on March 24.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said horses often found it difficult to win their next start after breaking through in a maiden.
But he said Temper The Storm achieved the feat in style.
“He was ridden well by our inform apprentice.
“He had to work from the outside gate, but showed a good turn of foot to put the race away soon after they straightened.
“He is a well-bred there-year-old by champion sire Snitzel, so hopefully he can work through the grades.”
