A CHANGE in gear and a return to the poly track did the trick for Tow the Line (main photo) on the weekend.
The Better Than Ready three-year-old bounced back to winning form in a Ratings Band 0-58 (1050m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Ridden by Ryan Wiggins, Tow The Line ($2.80-fav) notched her second career win, scoring by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was fantastic to see her back in the winner’s stall after being a bit disappointing at her past couple of runs.
“Hopefully, that will get her confidence back,” he said.
The victory was the first leg of a training double at the Gold Coast for Kendrick Racing.
The stable also had success with Torque Espagna in a Maiden (1540m).
Ridden by apprentice Montana Philpot, Torque Espagna ($4.20) broke through when she arrived just in time to haul in a tearaway leader and another challenger near the line, winning by a half-length.
“She followed up her good second at her last start on the Gold Coast synthetic, going one better this time,” Kendrick said.
“She has shown glimpses of form and will step up even further in trip now,” he said.
“Hopefully, she can string a few together.”
