THREE-YEAR-OLD Ultimate Outcome has found winning form after returning to the racetrack as a gelding.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said the horse showed ability last time in but was still immature.
“He was gelded while spelling and has come back a much more focused horse,” Kendrick said.
“He was very unlucky first start back from a spell (when second at the Sunshine Coast),” he said.
“He was caught wide and had a tough run and was only just collared late.”
The run was much easier to watch at Ipswich on Thursday (March 23) when Ultimate Outcome ($2-fav) broke through in a Maiden Plate (1350m).
Ridden by up-and-coming apprentice Bailey Wheeler, Ultimate Outcome raced just off the pace before chiming in and winning by a half-length.
“He was well ridden and got a much deserved win for his loyal owners,” Kendrick said.
“I think he can continue to step up in grade.”
