AUTUMN Show’s win at Ipswich on the weekend was a carbon copy of his last-start breakthrough victory on the Sunshine Coast.
Jockey Ryan Wiggins took off from near the rear mid-race and circled the field before Autumn Show ($13) won a Benchmark (22100m) by nearly two lengths on Sunday (January 21).
It was the same tactic Wiggins employed when the horse won a maiden over 2200m at his home track on December 31.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was fantastic for connections to score back-to-back wins with the horse.
“He’s a beautifully bred three-year-old who was disappointing early in his races,” Kendrick said.
“But he has found staying is definitely his forte,” he said.
“He was well ridden by Ryan Wiggins, who used the same tactics as last time by circling the field mid-race and then outsaying them.
“It is great to see a jockey use his initiative and it is exciting to watch.”
