A RACE-DAY change in distance could not derail Got My Thrills’ well-deserved breakthrough win at Ipswich.
Got My Thrills was an acceptor for a Class 1 (1666m) at Ipswich on Sunday, June 7.
However, the mile race was reduced on the day to 1350m after jockeys expressed concern about a section of track where some drainage works had recently been undertaken.
Got My Thrills ($2.90-fav), ridden by Jake Bayliss, was back in distance from a runner-up effort over 1600m last start but still proved too strong, winning by three-quarters of a length.
“It was a well-deserved return to the winner’s stall after a string of placings,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“She’s a nice filly who I think will be better next prep,” he said.
