APPRENTICE Montana Philpot played a key role in Hard Reyva’s successful road trip to Rockhampton.
Her claim meant the Krew Racing-syndicated galloper carried 58kg instead of top-weight of 60kg.
She also gave the horse a great steer in the Class 3 (1200m) on Friday, June 23.
Hard Reyva made the trip worthwhile for connections, winning a tight finish as $2.60 favourite.
“It was a perfect ride by Montana,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“He has been very consistent this preparation and the drop in grade helped,” he said.
“Hopefully, he can keep his confidence up and win at midweek level.”
Hard Reyva now has four wins and six placings from 17 career starts.
