A BRILLIANT win up in grade has booked Zoumeteor a Magic Millions berth in January.
The Zoustar four-year-old beat a quality field in the Magic Millions Country Cup Qualifier at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, December 17.
Ridden by Michael Rodd, Zoumeteor ($12) surprised rivals and punters in the Benchmark 75 (1000m) after being placed in Benchmark 70 company last start.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was a terrific win.
“We put him up in class to try and qualify for the $500,000 Magic Millions Country Cup.” Kendrick said.
“He missed the start last start and ran really well, but with the removal of the blinkers he showed he could finish powerfully from behind,” he said.
“It was a great ride by Michael Rodd, and we’ll now tick over the next month and head towards Magic Millions Day.”
The win took Zoumeteor’s record to four victories and three placings from 12 career starts.
