Disputed River, ridden by Jake Bayliss, completed the double at Eagle Farm.
Jake Bayliss also piloted Palatial Prince to a win on protest at the Sunshine Coast on the eve of the metro double.
KENDRICK Racing has notched a second metro double in seven days.
Following on from bookending the Doomben program a week ago, the stable was again on fire at Eagle Farm on Saturday, March 2.
Two-year-old first starter Can’t Recall One ($13) got things rolling in the first, a QTIS 2YO (1300m).
Ridden by Robbie Dolan, the grey gelding (main photo) won by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
“He has been a project,” trainer Stuart Kendrick said after the win.
“The owners and Hinterland Thoroughbreds did a great job with him before sending him to us,” he said.
“He has thrived since being gelded. His trial was very good and he showed he has a lot of ability with a stunning win,
“He missed the start and then showed a terrific turn of foot to win easily.”
Disputed River completed the double with his third staying win in a row and second in seven days.
The first leg of the Doomben double, Disputed River ($5), ridden by Jake Bayliss, won again in a Benchmark 78 (2206m).
Disputed River was also impressive, Kendrick said.
“He got shuffled back before the home straight but once clear he accelerated quickly to win well,” he said.
“He will have another start in a couple of weeks and if he wins again, he’ll be aimed at the Ipswich and Caloundra Cups.”
It was two wins for Kendrick Racing within 24 hours for Bayliss as he also piloted Palatial Prince ($3.30-fav) to victory on the poly track at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night.
He wasn’t first across the line but got the Benchmark 58 (1400m) on protest.
“It was a very well-deserved win,” Kendrick said.
“He has been consistent since he came to us,” he said.
“He loves working on the poly and raced that way.
“He looked like he was going to win easy, but the inside horse came out and bumped him and we had to win on protest.”
