A SPELL has done wonders for Galactic Legend.
The four-year-old has broken through first-up with a midweek city win, albeit sharing the spoils in a dead-heat finish.
Galactic Legend ($10), ridden by apprentice Bailey Wheeler, hit the line locked with $1.30 favourite Hell And Back in a Maiden (1100m) at Doomben on Wednesday, March 13.
“A spell has done this horse the world of good,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“He always had a lot of ability, but was disappointing at his first preparation for us,” he said.
“But after giving him a good break he has taken plenty of benefit.
“To come back and win first-up in town, dead-heating with a red-hot favourite, was a great effort.
“He will now look to head to another midweek and hopefully continue the good for and then onto a Saturday race.”
