SPIRIT Of Brodie lived up to his name in a determined win at the Sunshine Coast.
The three-year-old showed a ton of fighting spirit to make it back-to-back wins on the poly track on Sunday (April 7).
He was behind just before and just after the post but lunged right on the line to grab the thrilling win in the Benchmark 60 (1000m).
Ridden by James Orman, Spirit Of Brodie $2.50 just edged out betting ring rival On Hold ($2.30-fav) in the tightest of finishes.
“It was a tough effort by Spirit Of Brodie, which saw him make it two wins in a row,” trainer Stuart Kendrick said.
“He has always shown a lot of ability but has just taken time to mature,” he said.
“He was ridden well by Jimmy Orman and he had to dig deep to beat the favourite.”
It was Spirit Of Brodie’s third win of his career and followed a win in a Benchmark 55 over the same course and distance last start.
