SHADED is a promising stayer in the making.
He highlighted his potential when he broke through at just his second race start and up over the mile at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday (June 9).
Ridden by Michael Rodd, Shaded ($2.50-fav) was too strong for his rivals, winning by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
It followed a runner-up effort on debut when second over 1400 metres on the Sunshine Coast poly track last month.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was a strong win.
“He showed he’s a promising stayer,” Kendrick said.
“He had to do a bit of work early, but then was strong at the end of the race,” he said.
“It was a good effort to break through at just run number two and up to 1600 metres.
“He still has a lot to learn but he looks to be an impressive young horse going forward.”
