THE Gold Coast poly track 1900 metres looks to be Torque Leica Star’s sweet spot.
The five-year-old mare made it two wins from two starts at the course and distance with a good win on Saturday (August 31).
Ridden by apprentice Rob Thorburn, Torque Leica Star ($17) won a Benchmark 58 (1900m) by a half-length.
The victory may have surprised punters, but not connections.
“She loves the poly track in her work and loves racing on it,” said stable representative Nathan Kendrick.
Torque Leica Star also won a 1900m on the Gold Coast poly back in June when she won a Benchmark 60.
She’d finished fourth on the Sunshine Coast poly over 2150m at her most recent start.
Saturday’s win was her fifth from 28 career starts.
