IT is always a thrill to win a race on Melbourne Cup Day.
Connections of Bonded Affair had plenty to cheer about when he won at the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday (November 5).
Ridden by Anthony Allen, Bonded Affair ($3.90) finished strongly to score by nearly a length second-up from a spell in a Class 3 (1000m).
In a link to the big race in Melbourne, Cup winner Robbie Dolan rode Bonded Affair in a race last preparation.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was pleasing to see Bonded Affair back in the winner’s stall after he had a few injury issues last time in.
“After a good jump-out, we were confident first up from a spell, but he had no luck when caught wide the whole way,” Kendrick said.
“He still didn’t have much luck (on Tuesday) but proved too strong and the victory was very impressive,” he said.
“We will look to head into town now.”
