BONDED Affair ran into a couple of smart ones at his first two career starts but is now on the board with a dominant win at start number three.
The Nicconi three-year-old broke through in a 3YO Maiden SW (1350m) at Ipswich on Wednesday (October 18).
An absolute peach of a ride by Ben Thompson saw the gelding romp home by three lengths as $2.50 favourite.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said Bonded Affair was unlucky to finish second at his first two career starts.
He ran into a good one on debut and then again at his second start, he said.
“He was beaten by Kelly Schweida’s horse Weigall Tiger at his first outing and that horse then won again at its next start,” Kendrick said.
“He started a $71 chance that day and nearly pulled off a boil-over,” he said.
“At his next start he beat all home except his stablemate Javaja over 1200 metres.
“Javaja also won again at its next start, so is unbeaten in two outings.”
Kendrick said the lightly raced Bonded Affair also looked to have a promising future.
