CHANGE The Deel’s breakthrough win at Caloundra was worth the wait.
The Dundeel three-year-old produced a barnstorming finish from well back to win at start number three in a QTIS 3YO Maiden (1200m) on Sunday (October 22).
Ridden by Ben Thomson, Change The Deel ($8) was first-up since May and went into the race without an official trial.
He finished with such a rush he won by nearly a length.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was an exciting win.
“He has always shown plenty, but has taken a long time to mature,” Kendrick said.
“He was perfectly ridden by Ben, who said the horse will get better as he gets over further, and that he has a big engine,” he said.
“We will step the horse up in trip next start.”
