DIVAKARA has stamped himself as a quality stayer in the making.
The lightly raced four-year-old showed a touch of class when he easily won a Class 3 Plate (1800m) at the Sunshine Coast on Friday (March 14) night.
Ridden by Kyle Wilson-Taylor, Divakara ($2.05-fav) scored the third win of his seven-race career when he strolled home by three-and-a-half lengths.
“He appreciated the step up in distance and had the race won on the turn,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“He will progress through his grades and look to start again in two weeks,” he said.
“Hopefully, he will end up in some nice races over the carnival.”
As well as his three winning efforts, Divakara has also finished runner-up on three occasions.
Kendrick Racing followed up the Sunshine Coast Friday night victory with another win at headquarters on Sunday.
Aquaholic ($2.25-fav), ridden by apprentice Cody Collis, won a 0-58 Ratings Band (1200m) with a tough effort in a tight finish.
“He had no luck in the run, being three and four deep,” Kendrick said.
“He showed he has his share of ability by hanging on for the win,” he said.
“He is still quite an immature horse and will improve again next preparation.”
