IT may have only been a small field in Rockhampton but trainer Stuart Kendrick believes Electric Spirit’s breakthrough win at this third career start has plenty of positives.
“Hopefully, he will gain confidence off that good win,” Kendrick said.
“He has always worked and trialled well,” he said.
“It was also good QTIS money in a small field.”
Electric Spirit ($2.10-fav), ridden by Ashley Butler, won the QTIS 2YO C&G Maiden (1200m) comfortably by one-and-half lengths.
The race was reduced to a field of three following scratchings.
Electric Spirit, a Spirit of Boom gelding, debuted at the Sunshine Coast back in October.
He then trialled well following a spell before finishing third over 1100m at Rockhampton when resuming before Saturday’s breakthrough win.
