TRAINER Stuart Kendrick was thrilled for the owners of Cooroi Heights after the filly won on debut.

The three-year-old won a Maiden Plate (800m) on a heavy 10 at Ipswich on Sunday, December 24.

Ridden by Bailey Wheeler, she went into the race with a third in a trial under her belt and won as an $8.50 chance.

“It was good to get a winner on the board for Michael and Terry Ann Sherrin,” said Kendrick.

“They are great supporters of racing in Queensland and it was good to see them get a winner from a family they have raced,” he said.

They raced the filly’s dam Cooroi Chase.

“She was well ridden by Bailey Wheeler and hopefully this filly continues to improve,” Kendrick said.

“She s a lovely sort,” he said.

“Also it was a great job by Racing Queensland to get through the meeting under tough conditions.”
