Galloper tees up a Gold Coast mission

TORQUE I Tee has teed up a Gold Coast Magic Millions mission following a determined midweek win at Doomben.
“He will now look to target the Rising Stars race on Wave Day the week before the Magic Millions,” trainer Stuart Kendrick said after the win on Wednesday, December 20.
“If he won that he could sneak into the 3YO on Magic Millions Day,” he said.
At Doomben, Torque I Tee ($8.50) won third-up from a spell in a QTIS 3YO Benchmark 65 (1350m).
He had carried big weights at his past two and again was given 60kg by the handicapper, but the 2kg claim of apprentice Bailey Wheeler provided some welcome relief in a tight finish.
The horse then had to survive a protest in the stewards’ room before securing the victory.
“It was a good win for the owners,” said Kendrick.
“He has been a consistent horse and has appreciated the increase in distance now,” he said.
“His last two starts have been very good.”
