The Torque Factor, ridden by Robbie Dolan, made it two wins from the first two races of the afternoon.

Capital Chase, ridden by Nikita Beriman, was win number three.

Bailey Wheeler on Umetini capped four winners for the day.

THE hearts of connections of Kendrick Racing horse were in their mouths during some extremely close finishes at Caloundra on Sunday (September 15).
The bob of the head went Kendrick Racing’s way in all but one of four tight photo finishes, with the stable saddling up four winners for the day.
It could have been five, with Ultimate Outcome just missing out in a photo finish in the third after the stable had won the first two races with Heart And Spirit and The Torque Factor.
But it was hard to lament that close loss, given the other close wins for the day.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said it was terrific to see Heart And Spirit (main photo) make it two wins in a row.
Ridden by Angela Jones, Heart And Spirit ($2.50-fav) held off Estrondo on the line to win a QTIS 3YO (1000m).
Stablemate Trevatt Court ($11) was also running on well late to finish third at her racetrack debut.
Kendrick said Heart And Spirit was a tough filly.
“She will now head towards a metropolitan Saturday race,” he said.
The Tourque Factor ($5) made it two winners from the first two races when he broke through in a Maiden (1200m) in a similarly close finish.
Kendrick said the horse was a well-bred three-year-old by champion stallion Snitzel.
“He is a very big horse and has taken time to mature,” he said.
“But he showed a touch of class, winning against the older horses from the outside barrier.
“Robbie Dolan was very impressed with the win and said he will keep improving over longer distances.”
Capital Chase ($1.90-fav), ridden by Nikita Beriman, won a Benchmark 58 (1000m).
The win wasn’t as tight as the others, but the margin was still less than a half-length.
“He has always shown plenty of ability, but has had his share of issues,” Kendrick said.
“He has come back a bigger, stronger horse. Well ridden, he showed his ability, winning with 61kg and up in class,” he said.
“He is a Saturday quality horse and hopefully can continue on his winning way.”
Umetini ($5.50), ridden by Bailey Wheeler, won her first outing for the stable in a Class 1 (1400m), again in a photo finish.
“Umetini is a tried horse we bought from down south,” Kendrick said.
“She had some nice form down there and showed that with a very impressive win,” he said.
“She is very well-bred Japanese mare and hopefully can win in the city and then be a good broodmare prospect later on.”
