NICCONI three-year-old Heartoni has replicated his scintillating track work on race day.
He broke through at his third career start with a good win in a 3YO Maiden (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday (September 3).
Ridden by James Orman, Heartoni, which started an equal $3.60 favourite, produced a tradesman-like performance.
He stalked the lead and chased hard in the straight before proving too strong over the final 50 metres.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said he’d rated Heartoni a huge winning chance leading into the race.
“He ran a good second (last-start),” Kendrick said.
“He’s had a few setbacks, but he’s been flying in track work.”
Heartoni was a bargain buy for $14,000. He’s building an impressive record, with a win and two seconds from his three starts.
