CONSISTENT mare Rose Of Duporth has added a Saturday metropolitan victory to her resume.
The four-year-old made it back to back wins over the mile when she won at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, January 28.
Starting a $16 chance, she scored the well-deserved win in a 0MW (1600m).
It followed a last-start win over the same course and distance in Class 3 company.
Jockey Ben Thompson has been aboard for the past two wins and has ridden her brilliantly on both occasions.
On Saturday, he had her in a perfect spot just behind the leaders and was able to duck through along the inside when the leader shifted out.
She showed plenty of fight to hold off the challengers in the straight, again sticking her head out on the line.
“It was a well-deserved metro win,” said trainer Stuart Kendrick.
“She hasn’t had a lot of things go right early this prep, but two great rides by Ben Thompson have seen her win her past two starts,” he said.
Rose Of Duporth now has four wins and and 12 placings from 26 career starts, for nearly $150,000 in prize money.
