AS his name suggests, Heartoni showed a ton of heart in his Eagle Farm victory.
Ridden by apprentice Cejay Graham, Heartoni ($5) made it back-to-back wins in a QTIS 3YO (1000m) on Saturday (March 23).
He chased hard all the way down the straight and just kept coming to get the bob in on the line.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said Heartoni was such a tough, little horse.
“He just tries all the time,” he said.
“He just got a little bit of the wobbles there at the top of the straight and got a little bit lost.
“But Cejay balanced him up nicely and he stuck his head out at the right time.”
Heartoni now has four wins and four seconds from nine career starts.
Kendrick said he trained his mother Heartford early and that is why he bought him.
“We didn’t pay a lot of money for him because he was only a little pony,” he said.
“He’s just grown and is a tough, little fellow.
“He’s a little bit of the favourite around the stables.”
