THREE-YEAR-OLD Under The Cap has ticked the mile box with a good win in Rockhampton.
Ridden by James Orman, Under The Cap ($2.25-fav) won a Benchmark 65 (1600m) on Thursday (July 20).
Having finished second over 1500 metres at the same circuit last start, he went one better, winning by one-and-a-half lengths.
Trainer Stuart Kendrick said the horse deserved the win after a couple of unlucky runs.
“It was a good ride by Jimmy Orman,” Kendrick said.
“The horse showed he can run the trip,” he said.
“We’ll target a similar sort of race next start.”
